Although this table game uses the hand rankings and general concept of poker, it lacks the subtlety and skill of variations like Texas holdem and seven card stud, where the players compete directly with one another. In fact, three card poker is even simpler to play than blackjack, in which the player must learn the optimal decision for each set of hands in relation to the dealers up card. Three card poker involves only three decisions: Is it worth playing due to the payout structure? Should I bet the Pair Plus? Do I fold or play my hand? Lets start with the first question. While roughly similar, there are several different payout structures on the ante bet, which vary from casino to casino. Fortunately, the difference in house edge in almost all of these structures is less than 1%. When choosing where to play, your best option will be a table that pays 5 to 1 on a straight flush and 4 to 1 on three of a kind, although 3 to 1 isnt much worse. You should be aware, however, that there are some casinos that do not pay a bonus on the ante when the player makes a straight, improving the house edge. If possible, avoid three card poker at these casinos, even if a special payout for a Mini Royal Flush is offered. The next decision you need to make is whether or not to play the Pair Plus circle. A friend of mine once told me a story about how his father had won a lot of money using the strategy of betting on the Pair Plus, as if this were some sort of expert move. On the contrary, the Pair Plus is often seen as a sucker bet, as it serves merely to increase the house edge, though the prospect of a big payday on a straight flush is certainly enticing. The most common pay structure, in which a flush pays 3 to 1, is actually the least favorable to the player. In general, play at places that offer 4 to 1 odds on a flush and 6 to 1 on a straight; the other hands are rare enough that slight variations in the payout do not much matter. If youve decided to play in the game at all, you must then choose to fold or play your hand each round. Fortunately, this is probably the easiest decision of all: bet the Play if your hand is Q-6-4 or better and fold if it is lower. In other words, play any hand that contains a king, any hand that contains a queen and a seven or better, and any hand that contains a queen, a six, and a four or better. This hand is the cutoff point for where the player begins to lose less than he would lose by folding. Using this strategy and betting the Pair Plus would give the house an edge of a little over 5%, which is higher than blackjack and some bets on the craps table but not too bad when compared with many of the other bets in the casino. by Tuesday,6 Sep 2011 The British Poker Awards are an excellent showcase for the massive talent that Britain has produced The British Poker Awards are getting closer and closer and the jury is still out as to which players are most likely to win. With a sterling performance from UK players at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2011 it is likely that there are going to be some new names mixed in with the old favourites. Players such as Jake Cody had a massive WSOP, winning over $800,000 for taking the winners bracelet in the $25,000 heads up no limit hold em event. He has the nomination for Best Tournament Player and Best Online Player. These are going to be difficult to win however as there are some massive poker names nominated alongside him in the form of Sam Trickett and Roberto Romanello for the title of Best tournament Player. Trickett first shot to poker fame during the 2010 WSOP where he cashed in no less than 6 separate events and then went on to storm his way through Asia, first at the Aussie millions and then in China when he won a reputed one and a half million dollars from high stakes cash games alone. More recently he just made 11th place at the Epic Poker Leagues (EPL) inaugural tournament for a prize of just under $50,000. Roberto Romanello is making a name for himself on the European Poker circuit. He won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bratislava event earlier this year for a prize of $197,000 and the EPT Prague last year for a prize of $846,000. Managing to maintain the momentum, Trickett has been nominated in three categories this year. As well as the nomination for best Best Tournament Player he has the nominations for Best Cash Player and Best Social Media User. The Best cash Player is a massive title to win, other nominees include Roland de Wolfe and Richard Ashby. De Wolfe is a well known celebrity after having been playing on televisions Late Night Poker and at one point was the UKs highest earning poker player. He is also the first player ever to win both WPT and EPT events which he did in 2006. Ashby holds a WSOP winners bracelet for taking the seven card stud event in 2010, he also won the Aussie millions. The field of British poker pros is really an ever expanding pool of some really big names and it seems that there are always new players coming along to make it look easy.

by Tuesday,4 Oct 2011 Full Tilt poker are currently in a closed hearing with the AGCC to find out whether they can continue operating The Full Tilt Poker scandal finally seems to be coming to a close. It has been an on going process for months with former players absolutely furious about the way that the once mighty poker site has disposed of their money. Now Full Tilt Poker are sitting before their regulator the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) in a desperate attempt to convince them to renew their gaming license so that they can continue to operate. It is unlikely that their gaming license will be renewed, it was the AGCC who suspended the license that they had already given Full Tilt after an investigation uncovered fraud, money laundering and a host of other white collar crimes. The original licensing hearing to decide whether or not to give the stricken site their license back and allow them to continue operating. It is difficult to see a scenario in which Full Tilt Poker will be able to return to their former position as the second largest online poker site on the Web. All of their players have been unable to play poker on the site for months, nor have they been able to access their money and have been defecting in droves for other poker sites. The statements made by Tiltware have failed to convince fans that there is any hope for them to get their money back and in fact have led to even more worries in many cases as they utterly failed to address the concerns held by players. As time went on more information about shoddy business practices emerged such as the way in which certain players were lent millions of dollars in order to carry on playing, these were players funds and they would like them back. Class action lawsuits have become all the range on the North American continent as the US department of Justice as well as various private individuals have taken to suing the errant firms controlling Full Tilt for their cash. In Canada alone the suit is for $150 million, it is unlikely that Full Tilt will be able to find the money with which to pay these suits should the courts find against the poker site. Although the hearing is happening behind closed doors it has been three days without any word at all being leaked and the rumour mills have been in overdrive.

Professional poker players around the world have been using the services of rakeupdate.com for some time now only to find that the firm have been unapproachable for the past month. Despite repeated efforts to contact them players havent managed to get a response from the firm. It has been six weeks since the companys network provider, Elite Affiliate Software stopped providing services to the firm due to non-payment of their funds. There is more than $1 million owed to clients and it doesnt look like they are going to see their money any time soon.Unlike with Full Tilt Poker it looks like personal problems between the owners of the company have led to its downfall. There was a power struggle in the company as to who was ultimately in charge between the two biggest personalities involved, Mike Haid and Daniel Persson, it was Persson who who ultimately won with Haid and several other key employees walking away from the firm. This was a year ago and the service offered by the sites run by the firm immediately suffered. Players are said to have lost massive amounts of money since the firm stopped responding to players requests.In an interesting angle on the events of Black Friday that poker players dont usually hear about, the people at Rake Update also suffered massive problems owing to the fact that the big payment processors pulled out of the United States, they were particularly hard hit when Moneybookers and Neteller walked away from the market. After Black Friday Full Tilt saw their business devastated with the loss of their American market. After making a deal with the US Department of Justice (DoJ) where they agreed to pay back their former clients in the US Full Tilt reneged claiming not to have the money. The lawyer for Full Tilt and the several companies who run the site has been Jeff Ifrah and his associates until now, though there has been a growing amount of rumours as to whether he continues to represent the firm which in turn has led to speculation as to whether there is any money left in the company to pay them with. After releasing a statement on their finances in August the site claimed that they had been the victims of a massive financial fraud to the tune of $42 million by one of their payment processors. They also claimed that seizures by the DoJ accounted for over $115 million.This explanation satisfied few in the industry amongst players and pundits alike who reckon that hundreds of millions of dollars have been made by the site over the years of its operation. This Sunday, the November Nine will return to the scene where they had so much success earlier in the World Series of Poker main event. The nine finalists return to the tables at the Rio on Sunday, when they will begin play for the biggest prize in professional poker today.The $8 million top prize has become somewhat of an afterthought for players over the past couple of months. Once they reached the final table back in July, the players became instant celebrities, and they have spent the past few months juggling their fame with their practice schedule. all of the players have gone over in-depth strategies in their head over and over.Sunday, those strategies will all go out the window when the cards are finally dealt at the final table. The players will be able to execute the first few phases of their strategy, but likely will have to adjust on the fly as the cards will dictate which players move along in the tournament. A bad run of cards at this point could mean disaster for some of the finalists.One player who will be able to handle not receiving cards for the first portion of the main event will be chip leader Martin Stasko. He currently has over forty million in chips, more than doubling the stacks of players in six through nine positions. Eoghan O’Dea is second with just over 33 million in chips, and Matt Giannetti is third at 24,750,000.
